On Saturday night, October 25, 1986, 10 rhythm and blues and soul vocal harmony groups of the 1950s and ‘60s performed at the Afro-American Historical and Cultural Museum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. All of the acts- the Silhouettes, Angels/Castelles, Blue Notes, Capris, Dreamlovers, Revels, Keystoners, Majors, Tymes and Brenda and the Tabulations- were formed in the greater Philadelphia area. Only 230 tickets were available for the show, priced at $40 each.
In this 6-minute film shared by Seymour Simon, Philadelphia Rhythm & Blues vocal group THE REVELS perform a brief two song-set of their 1950s recordings, “False Alarm” and “Talking To My Heart”. The group consists of original tenor Henry Colclough singing lead and original bass John Jones, joined by two members of the group A Moment’s Pleasure, Bill Keith and John Jones (no relation to the other John Jones in the group). While the sound is less than ideal on this recording, it is presented for historical purposes.
