Infirm Power of Thermal Power Plant and Tariff

Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), a key regulator of power sector in India, is a statutory body functioning with quasi-judicial status under sec – 76 of the Electricity Act 2003. CERC was instituted primarily to regulate the tariff of Power Generating companies owned or controlled by the government of India, and any other generating company which has a composite scheme for power generation and interstate transmission of energy, including tariffs of generating companies.
‘Infirm Power’ means electricity injected into the grid prior to the date of commercial operation of a unit of the generating station in accordance with Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Grant of Connectivity, Long-term Access and Medium-term Open Access in inter-State Transmission and related matters) Regulations, 2009. The Tariff or sale of this infirm power is decide by the Deviation Settlement Mechanism and Related Matters Regulations, 2014.
