Since the Wheels Through Time motorcycle museum is not open today, I leave Iron Horse Motorcycle Resort near Robbinsville, North Carolina and head directly for the Tail of the Dragon at Deal’s Gap. I’ve only ridden the Dragon once before. That was in 2018, the first year I owned my Mini Mate. I did not have the trailer on the bike for that run. I’m mainly here to take advantage of the photographers who make their living capturing riders (and car drivers) as they snake their way up or down Hwy. 129. Too many people ride this road at speeds above their skill levels. Hauling a pop-up tent trailer, I’m not trying for any records, I just want to get through safely. I’ve heard that the Foothills Parkway is open after being shut down for roadwork so that’s where I will head next while on my way to Hot Springs, North Carolina for the Blue Ridge Gathering (BRG).
