If you are out on the road more than a few weeks you are probably going to rack up enough miles to need a tire change. I tend to go through two rears to one front tire. In pre-planning, I knew that by the time I got to the Blue Ridge Gathering I would have covered about 13,000 kilometres (8,000 miles). I’ve taken my Shinko Verge 11s to over 15,000 km. but, with approximately 5,000 km to get home, I figured that Ashville would be a good place to get a new tire. The bike would be due for an oil change as well and turns out it needed rear brake pads too. MR Motorcycle in Ashville were quick to answer their phone and book me in. The ST1300 has 222,400 kilometres on it at this point. I got to have supper with the rest of the gang attending the BRG (Blue Ridge Gathering) and breakfast too. We had a few people cancel coming and another half dozen decide that they were getting back on the road Friday due to Hurricane Ian coming in.
