Shirley Bassey performed an hour TV Special in 1966 on the 'Show Of The Week', called 'The Sound of Shirley Bassey' on 22 Feb 1966. This show was initially broadcasted on BBC2. Shirley performs many of the songs she released on her 1965 live album titled, 'Shirley Bassey at the Pigalle', and her follow-up 1965 studio album titled, 'Shirley Stops the Shows'. In the USA the album was titled, 'Shirley Means Bassey'. However, this particular song was not on either of these albums as it was Shirley's first number hit back in 1958. This song is titled, 'As I Love You', and the songwriters include Jay Livingston and Ray Evans.

ABOUT This Song:
"As I Love You" is a 1958 hit song by Shirley Bassey with Wally Stott & His Orchestra, written by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans for the Universal International motion picture, The Big Beat (1958). From 20 February 1959, it was number one on the UK Singles Chart for four weeks. Shirley's producers originally thought the other side titled, 'Hands Across the Sea' was the going to be the hit. Although it is a wonderful song, it is the beautiful 'As I Love You' that caught the attention of music lovers. Shirley shows the beautiful side of her amazing vocal abilities with this song. In addition, this song became the first number 1 hit by a Welsh artist.

LYRICS:
I will love you as I love you All my life
Every moment spent with you
Makes me more content with you

Just as you are You are all I could pray for
All that you are that's what I wake-up each day for
Every single touch and tingle I adore
Every kiss from you to me Always seems so new to me
Each one warmer than the one before
As I love you more and more and more

Every single touch and tingle I adore
Every kiss from you to me always seems so new to me
Each one warmer than the one before
As I love you more and more and more
