Batranului Cave is located on the Zece Hotare karst plateau in the Padurea Craiului Mountains, at an altitude of 575 m. The cave is located on the northeastern slope of Crucii Hill (Dealul Crucii, 724 m), at the downstream extremity of a blind valley (Valea Peştireului) and develops in the Imaşul Bătrânului karst plateau. It was the stream that entered the cave at the base of a rock wall that formed the cavity. It returns to the surface only in the Crișului Repede gorge, when it leaves the Vadu Crișului cave. The Batranului Cave consists of two types of galleries: an active one, and a dry one rich in stalagmite formations.
