If you're a bit bored of Pizza or you're having a party where people like to share things, you should definitely give this Flammkuchen or Tarte Flambée a try. No complicated techniques required as the base dough is very simple and the toppings couldn't be easier. This dish is from the Alsace region originally but don't take an Alsatian to a naughty party or you might not be allowed in.
Flammkuchen/Tarte Flambée full recipe:
Dough base recipe:
600g bread flour or all purpose
2 tsps salt
1 tsp sugar
300ml warm water
60g or 6 tbsps liquid oil
Flammkuchen toppings:
125-150g Créme Fraiche per tart
Pinch salt
Generous pinch of pepper
A pinch of nutmeg
Around 1 medium onion
Around 125g of trimmed bacon lard ons
Dried parsley or fresh chives
