We thought we would spend 2-3 days max in the desert region of southeastern Morocco and here we are embarked on a new exchange of services.

We arrive in the small village of Ksar El Boya for our second Workaway in Morocco. It is a mini village of around a hundred inhabitants, located 10 minutes west of the town of Erfoud.

We then meet Redouane with his big smile which feels good and he invites us to park Falkor inside his large house built of adobe.

Rédouane has been welcoming Workawayers into his home since 2019 and we get to know this man with a big heart. He has already received hundreds of visitors at his home.

In addition to the cultural exchange that we experience on a daily basis, we also help Redouane create bricks to build a future traditional house. A first experience for us, super interesting and enriching.

In the mornings we set off on foot through the fields to arrive 10 minutes later on our land. There, we have 2 missions to accomplish. The first, dig and level a piece of land.

The second, make as many bricks as possible. The process is 100% natural and manual and super interesting.

You should also know that summer here is synonymous with sandstorms!

Knowing that the town of Erfoud is a few minutes away by collective taxi, Redouane always plans a few outings with the people he welcomes.
Shopping in the market, which sells everything, is a must, especially if you want to test the local flavors and colors!

In this seemingly desert place, there were so many things to do, discover and experience. Like the rise from the viewpoint over the village. (the guy who fought against the Portuguese).
But also, coming out of our torpor after the long hours of nap, thanks to a walk to the immaculate sand dunes, with Hajar and Yasmina. And also discover this new playground with Redouane and the dear roommates of the moment.

Then one evening, we will spend one more unforgettable night, alongside a family of nomadic friends from Redouane. We will share the evening meal with them, we will also bring them things as a thank you.

The husband asks us a bunch of questions, it’s great to be able to answer his curiosity and him ours thanks to Redouane’s translations. Waking up at dawn is to the sound of goats coming to see if we have left things for them.

After all these images that you have just seen, we hope that you are as convinced as we are of the beauty that we are capable of creating and building together. The mountains become magnificent paths to travel together, with openness, trust and curiosity to see what is further away.

A new family has ever been engraved in our hearts. And we hit the road again with glitter in our eyes and a bit of sand too.
