Step by Step detailed instructions explaining this awesome low-tech pasteurization method for making perfect sawdust blocks from wood pellet fuel. This method can be used for expanding spawn or making fruiting blocks for any wood loving mushrooms. In this video, we use this method to expand some store-bought Almond Agaricus spawn on the cheap to kick off a new outdoor grow experiment.

You can use this same method to make spawn or fruiting blocks. For fruiting blocks my standard recipe by weight is:
- 2 lbs. dry hardwood fuel pellets
- 2 lbs. 13 oz. water (at or near boiling for pasteurization)
- Pasteurize for 60 to 90 minutes, then cool to room temp
- Add 1 lb. of spawn and mix.
- Finished block is just under 6 lbs
