Tangmere Late Again:
A Few Hours at Carlisle.
Class 37 start up,
Stone Blower,
Flasks
10 February 2024

A few hours spent at Carlisle when Tangmere brought in the second Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express of 2024.

Tangmere arrived late after a 50 minute stop at Carnforth. Apparently low water pressure - from the feed injector? - caused some problems. Whilst Tangmere was at Carlisle, West Coast put out a Very Short Term Planning time for a Class 47 to head to the border city to replace the ailing Steam loco. However it was instead diverted to Hellifield. Tangmere took its train over the S&C but came off at Hellifield.

Other trains seen include a single flask from Sellafield to Kingmoor depot, a Stoneblower headed for Scotland and the daily Tesco train.

In the Holding Sidings Thunderbird 57307 Lady Penelope was shunted to its normal place on the back wall and a West Coast 37 was started up with the help of a passing fitter.
