Battle of Britain Light Pacific class 34067 Tangmere arrived exactly one hour late in Carlisle, the first steam arrival of 2024.
Platform 1 at the Citadel is currently out of use because of a potentially dangerous storm-damaged canopy, thus limiting the opportunities to handle charter trains without interfering with scheduled services. Tangmere's leaving coincided disastrously with an arriving Pendolino, but her very slow departure (was that a deliberate move on the part of the driver?) meant that all was not lost for those of us on Platform 3.
