Come explore with me as a try one of the most favorite foods in Indonesia. Originating from the West Sumatra Province in the capital city named Padang. Which is a 2 hour flight from Jakarta. My friend that is a Padang lover herself gives me insight on how to choose the right dish. As soon as we get seated at the restaurant, the waiter starts bringing out already prepared dishes. I am confused and think we are at a buffet suddenly. But she informs me we don't have to eat all the dishes that are served at the table. We pick each dish that we want to eat and later they count how many dishes we eat for the bill. Staring at all the dishes, I feel a little overwhelmed. Which one do I choose??? She takes a dish called ''Gulai Otak'' which is cow brain. I look at her a little crazy and ask if we are going to eat that. She said I am and if I want to try I can. I say yes, and try. To my surprise it is really good and flavorful. I also try ''Rendang'' which is beef stew in spicy coconut milk and chili gravy. Voted as one of the most favorite dishes in the world. I pair the rendang with ''Ayam Goreng'' that is spicy golden brown fried chicken padang style and I mix it with some vegetables and a scoop of rice. This is all eaten with my hand, no utensils. All the dishes we tried today are rich in flavor and spices. Making me a huge fan of the padang food. True fact after eating padang cuisine I went back a couple days later to eat at the exact same spot. Now that will tell you how good the food was actually :)
