A stretch of Interstate 485 in north Charlotte is shut down due to a deadly crash involving two tractor-trailers, including a tanker truck.

The crash happened on the outer loop near Mallard Creek Road, which is Exit 28 on I-485. Multiple vehicles are involved in the crash. The inner and outer loops are both blocked by the crash. Multiple emergency crews are on the scene of the crash, including Charlotte Fire and North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Medic confirmed one person was killed in the crash. Another was airlifted in critical condition and four others were evaluated at the scene but didn't go to the hospital.

The road is expected to be closed until 12:40 p.m., according to DriveNC.
