This is the second lecture in a series on the Lover Archetype by the Neo-Jungian analyst and creator of the King Warrior Magician Lover system, Dr. Robert Moore, in his lecture on "The Role of the Lover in Masculine Selfhood”. Recorded in 1989, we have digitally restored and enhanced the original audio for a better listening experience, although the quality is still lacking in parts. Nevertheless, some of the points discussed are even more relevant today than they were when it was recorded - a testament to the insight of Dr. Moore.

In this lecture, Dr. Robert Moore talks about:

The embodiment of love in various traditions such as Hinduism and Buddhism.

The integration of sexuality and spirituality and the lover archetype in Judaism.

The importance of appreciative consciousness and shamelessness in embodying the lover archetype.

The concept of boundaries in relation to the lover archetype.

The importance of balancing different archetypal energies to contain the lover archetype consciously.

Without a healthy connection to the lover energy, individuals may exhibit dominating behavior without concern for others' worth, leading to a lack of blessing and care in their roles.

The need to consciously engage with the lover energy to prevent it from contaminating other aspects of the psyche and leading to distorted behaviors.

The potential roots of abusive and dominating behavior, linking it to wounded aspects of the lover archetype and the struggle for consciousness and connection.

“A man is supposed to be getting into trouble… He [Robert Bly] said, If you're not getting into trouble, something's wrong. Now, you're going to have to get a feeling for this archetype if you're going to get a sense for what he's talking about. Now, I like to clean it up. I try to say, Well, Robert doesn't really mean that. He really is talking about the archetypal self. You can't domesticate the archetypal self, and that's part right. But he really does mean. If you're a man, you ought to be getting in a little trouble.” - Dr Robert L. Moore (1942 - 2016)
