จักรวาลชีวิตของชาวจ้วงผูกพันกันเป็นเครือญาติ ผู้อาวุโสได้รับการยกย่องให้เป็น "ย่า" มีบทบาทสำคัญในการเป็นผู้นำทางความเชื่อ แม้กระนั้นผู้หญิงยังคงต้องทำงานหนักกว่าผู้ชายและการปฏิวัติวัฒนธรรมรวมชนกลุ่มน้อยให้เป็นจีน และการที่ได้อยู่ใกล้ชิดกับชาวจีนฮั่น เครือญาติในกลุ่มชาติพันธุ์ไทที่มีความใกล้ชิดกันด้านความเชื่อ วัฒนธรรมและภาษา จึงค่อย ๆ เขยิบออกห่าง แต่ก็ไม่อาจตัดขาดสายสัมพันธ์ที่ต่างก็รู้ดีว่า พวกเราล้วนเป็นเครือญาติที่ยังคงใกล้ชิดกัน ได้เห็นการใช้ชีวิต ความเชื่อและการสื่อภาษา ในพื้นที่ของชาวจ้วงในยูนนานและกวางสีที่เราได้เดินทางไปถึง

- ZHUANG, THE TAI RELATIVES IN GUANGXI AND YUNNAN
The cosmic universe of the Zhuang people revolves around their “family relationship”. The elders were respected as ‘grandmothers’ and bestowed with the important role of the “spiritual leader”. Women also needed to work harder than men. But, the Cultural Revolution united all the minorities as “Chinese”. Staying with the Han people, their relationship with the Tai ethnic group “slowly dissipated”. But this could never sever the ties of their relationship as a family, as being seen from their way of life…their beliefs, and their languages in Yunnan and Guangxi…where we have visited.
