The Huangpu River in Shanghai is set to greet China's first new-energy battery-powered passenger ferry. The "Shanghai Ferry 11" stretches 27 meters long and 10.6 meters wide, with a depth of 2.4 meters and a draft of 1.6 meters.

It’s designed with a robust steel main hull and an aluminum alloy superstructure, featuring dual engines and rudders for enhanced maneuverability. Internally, the second floor offers a 360-degree open view, along with amenities include display screens, charging ports, upholstered sofas under a top glass roof surrounded by glass walls.

The "Shanghai Ferry 11" operates entirely on electric power, significantly reducing noise, vibration, and emissions compared to traditional diesel-powered ferries. This shift to electric power is expected to save an average of 50 tons of diesel annually.

The ferry now undergoes no-load testing for two months before beginning trial operations on the Tangdong Line.By the end of the year, it is expected to start regular services in the city center.
