In this vlog, Saru and I take you on a special journey through Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. Our trip began with a visit to Saru's home to see her mother. After spending some time there, we decided to explore a couple of historical gems in the area – the Nurpur Fort and the Brij Raj Swami Temple, a unique temple in India where Lord Krishna and his devotee Meera Bai are worshiped together.

Day 1: Discovering Nurpur Fort
After spending time with Saru's family, we headed to the Nurpur Fort, a site rich in history and culture. This fort, originally known as Dhameri Fort, was built by Raja Basu in the 10th century and was later renamed Nurpur after Mughal Emperor Jahangir's wife, Nur Jahan. Walking through the fort's ancient ruins, we were captivated by the breathtaking views of the Dhauladhar mountain range that stretched out before us. It was easy to imagine the stories this fort had witnessed over the centuries.

As we explored the fort, we were struck by its unique architectural style, a blend of Mughal and Himachali influences. Even though much of the fort is now in ruins, its walls still hold the echoes of the past, speaking of the grandeur and significance it once held. From the top, we took in the serene views of Kangra and the surrounding valleys, truly appreciating the fort's strategic location. Nurpur Fort is not just a historical monument, but a key part of Himachal Pradesh's cultural heritage.

A Visit to Brij Raj Swami Temple
After our tour of the fort, we made our way to the Brij Raj Swami Temple, an extraordinary temple that is one of its kind in India. This temple is dedicated to both Lord Krishna and Meera Bai, his ardent devotee, and their idols are worshiped together here. The temple, built in the 16th century by the kings of Nurpur, is deeply revered by the locals.

The moment we stepped inside, we were enveloped by a sense of peace and devotion. The temple has a unique spiritual energy, and knowing that both Lord Krishna and Meera Bai are worshiped here together adds a special significance to it. It's believed that the idol of Lord Krishna was brought from Jaipur, and the people of Nurpur have been devoted to this temple for generations.

We spent some quiet moments in prayer, absorbing the sacred atmosphere, and learning about the history behind the temple. This place made us feel deeply connected to the stories of devotion and love that surround Lord Krishna and Meera Bai. It was a serene experience that left a lasting impact on us.

Day 2: The Journey Back to Shimla
The next day, we wrapped up our visit to Kangra and prepared to head back to Shimla. The lush green landscapes, the historical grandeur of #nurpur Fort, and the divine aura of Brij Raj Swami Temple made this trip truly special. As we journeyed back, we reflected on the cultural and spiritual richness of Kangra that we had just experienced.

On our drive back to #Shimla, we enjoyed the beautiful scenic views that Himachal Pradesh is famous for, cherishing the memories of our trip. This visit will always hold a special place in our hearts, and through this vlog, we hope to share that same sense of wonder and peace with you.
