We were excited to accept an invitation from Saru’s friend to attend a Bhandara (community feast) at the beautiful Kali Temple in Jutogh, a place nestled in the heart of a deodar forest. With the added charm of Navratra festivities, this holiday felt like the perfect day for some spiritual adventure!

Scene 1: The Journey to Jutogh
The day started with clear blue skies, and the air was crisp with that fresh mountain fragrance. We left our home and started the scenic drive uphill toward Jutogh. The route took us through a majestic deodar jungle, with towering trees lining the winding road. The sunlight filtering through the forest canopy created a magical ambiance. As the road curved, we could catch glimpses of the stunning valleys below, making the entire journey as peaceful as it was visually spectacular.

Scene 2: At the Kali Temple in Jutogh
Upon reaching the Kali Temple, we were greeted by the serene setting of the temple grounds. Surrounded by the quiet deodar forest, the temple exuded a calm, spiritual energy. We paid our respects to Maa Kali and took in the atmosphere of devotion as locals gathered for the Bhandara. The traditional Himachali food served at the community feast was a true delight, with dishes prepared with such love and care by the temple volunteers. The experience was soulful—enjoying the food amidst the backdrop of nature and devotion.

Scene 3: Discovering the Mysterious Cave
After finishing at the Bhandara, we decided to explore the area further. Walking back through the forest trail, something caught our attention—a small, mysterious cave, almost hidden within the landscape. We were curious, so we ventured closer. To our surprise, this cave was dedicated to Lord Shiva, and the locals had built a small temple inside it. The ambiance within the cave was mesmerizing, with the faint echo of the wind and a spiritual calm that seemed to emanate from the very rocks. It felt like stepping into a hidden, sacred world that very few know about. This was truly a highlight of our journey to Jutogh.

Scene 4: Heading to Kali Bari Temple Shimla
After a serene afternoon in Jutogh, we made our way to Kali Bari Temple in Shimla, as Saru had planned earlier. The drive back to the city was equally enchanting, especially as we approached Mall Road. The lights of Shimla twinkled like stars, creating a magical sight as dusk settled over the town.

Upon reaching Kali Bari Temple, we were greeted by the divine ambiance of the Navratra celebrations. The temple was glowing with festive lights, and devotees filled the courtyard. It felt like a different world, full of energy and devotion. As we entered, it was time for the evening aarti—a divine coincidence! We joined the crowd, immersing ourselves in the powerful aarti and chants that filled the air.

Scene 5: Closing with Navratra Vibes
After the aarti, we spent some time exploring the surroundings of Kali Bari Temple. The view of Shimla at night, combined with the spiritual energy of the temple, made this visit feel special. The day had been a perfect blend of nature, adventure, and divinity. From the peaceful forest trails of Jutogh to the festive celebrations at Kali Bari Temple, the experience left us in awe of Shimla’s hidden gems and spiritual energy.
