The history of Pakistan is a tormented story full of terrible events: since 1947, when the country gained independence from the British Empire together with India, the Pakistanis have experienced first-hand the conflict (never ceased) in Kashmir against its Indian neighbor, a war lost against China in the Tibetan mountains, the pressure of the Soviet invasion in Afghanistan in the north, the independence of Bangladesh (former East Pakistan) and an innumerable series of military coups and overthrows. From the founding father Jinnah to Nawaz Sharif - and passing through the worst leader in history, Muhammad Zia-ul-aq - Pakistan is considered by many as the example of a failed state, the symbol of a nation degenerated in many ways and united only by religious faith, Islam. Let us discover together the history of this afflicted country.
