Updated & expanded video - First we have moved away from the 6mm VT, even when using 7mm & 8mm ropes (but we can do all the following techniques w/ the 6mm VT on 6mm cord like XTEC). Second, we altered slightly how we tie it...the amount of wraps up prior to the braiding, and the configuration (VT vs. XT vs. Mod XT) depending on how we are using it, the rope material, construction, and diameter. These are the current techniques we use and are teaching. In the end, use what works best for your context, experience, and system component interaction. Besides its use as a standard lead prusik, prusik in a PCD, or an autoblock on a rappel, we also use it for... rappelling a tensioned rope (making access to a stuck / injured rappeller on their line), attachment of a winch line or ATLS to a main line system utilizing an AHD rigged haul or lower, One-Rescuer Pick-Off, Knot pass on Rappel, integrated RAD capability with a set of fours...And a lot more, but, we'll stop typing now...
