【わけがない】
there is no way, there is no reason, it is impossible, cannot be

Verb-casual +わけがない

This is used to strongly deny something or express "absolutely impossible" in relation to a possible verb form. Asserts that there is no reason or possibility for X, reflecting the speaker's subjective opinion.


【 わけがない vs わけではない】

Compared to わけではない, わけがない is much stronger, emphasizing the complete absence of something.


*わけがない*

1. Used when subjectively stating "absolutely not."
2. Can be replaced with "はずがない."
3. It is sometimes unclear when connecting to the negative form (V-ない).


*わけではない*

1. A way of negating a part within a whole.
2. The form "わけでもない" is also possible.
3. It can be confusing when connecting to the negative form (V-ない).


彼は働いているから、暇なわけがない。
Since he is working, there is no way he has free time.


彼は働いていないが、暇なわけではない。
He is not working, but that doesn't mean he has free time.


【わけがない vs はずがない】

"Both "わけがない" and "はずがない" are patterns used to firmly deny the possibility of something, expressing the idea that there is absolutely no way that ~. Essentially, they can be used interchangeably, although "わけ" and "はず" themselves carry different usage nuances."


彼に限ってそんな嘘つくわけがないよ
There's no way he would tell such a lie.


彼に限ってそんな嘘つくはずがないよ|
there should be no way he would tell such a lie


このパソコンは先週買ったばかりなので、壊れるわけはありませんよ。
I just bought this computer last week, so there's no reason for it to break.


用事があっても好きな人からの誘いなら、断るわけないでしょう。
Even if I have other plans, I wouldn't decline an invitation from someone I like.


【ないForm + わけがない】

The negative form (～ないわけがない) becomes a strong affirmation, meaning "certainly X will happen / it is absolutely X."


優秀な彼が、あの会社に受からないわけがない。（=絶対に受かる）
There's no way that someone as talented as him wouldn't pass the interview at that company. (=Absolutely will pass)
　

愛情をこめて作った料理がおいしくないわけがない。（=絶対においしい）
There's no way a dish made with love wouldn't be delicious. (=Absolutely delicious)


【～わけない】
In casual conversations, the form 'わけない,' where the particle 'が' is omitted, is also used.


努力無しで成功するわけない。
There's no way to succeed without effort.


俺がお前を裏切るわけないだろ。
There's no way I would betray you, right?
