Today’s Commercial street in Nevada City is a great spot to grap something to eat and quite popular and busy in the evenings.
In the 1850’s it was part of the Chinese quarter were more then 3,000 Chinese who immigrated for gold mining lived. By 1880 about 20% of all gold miners were Chinese.
When visiting Nevada City, I recommend you visit the Fire House museum #1 on main street. 214 Main st, Nevada City. It is full of Chinese history in Nevada Country, California. Plan your visit and check hours ahead of time since it’s very limited. The museum has free entrance but donations are recommended.
