Pyramid Lake is an extraordinary lake to go fishing. No matter if you fish it by land or boat, it is a notable experience. The water is just different than anywhere else. We hunt the shorelines when the winds are up, but sometimes the winds are up a little too much, and going in the wrong direction. For those of you that do not know; fishing is best into the wind, that's right, the harder it is, the better it should be. The waves stir up sediment that smaller bait fish feed on, and the turbid water creates a cloak for predators to cruise the shallow oxygenated hunting grounds. Keep your gear close to the bottom and near the drop offs. Sadly the wind blew from the West for the entire week prior to the trip, continuing to push hard. Bet there was some decent fish holding on the East shore, probably circling the Pyramid. Regardless the trip was a blast; challenging, rewarding, unforgettable. Had the opportunity to try out some new gear that I absolutely loved. The Garmin Striker Cast-able depth finder works better than expected, can't wait to use it more often.
