The World Wildlife Fund for Nature, in conjunction with the National Forestry Authority, has restored over 1,000 degraded forests and wetlands in the major central forest reserves of Kangombe, Bugoma, and Budongo in the Bunyoro sub-region.

Phillip Kihumuro, the WWF Forest Restoration and Carbon Absorption Manager for the Bunyoro region, disclosed that at least 2,500 acres of forests have been recovered through tree planting campaigns and the establishment of collaborative forest management committees.
