The calung rantay is a bamboo xylophone played by the Baduy Luar or Outer Baduy, a group of very traditional Sundanese who live in the mountains of Banten, Java's westernmost province. The calung is usually played at home for the player's own amusement, often after a long day of work in the fields. Bamboo xylopones like this are quite resonant as each key is made from a naturally hollow bamboo cylinder, meaning it acts as its own resonator.

The musician is Pak Aswadi - the tune he's playing is called "Yiro."
