I repair both of these models everyday.
Most have failed thermal fuses .
And nearly all have overheated due to a dirty and partially blocked air intake filter. Sometimes an accidental blockage of the air intake filter occurs, like a towel falling on to the hairdryer.

Clean the air filter weekly!

Another tip is to always turn the heat off first and after 5 seconds turn the fan off. This allows the heating element to cool down and prolongs the life of the hair dryer.
