Babylon is the one of the greatest cities in the ancient world. Babylon was the capital of Babylonian Empire. The ruins of the Babylon can find in the modern- day Iraq. Babylon is the center of Mesopotamian civilization . The word Babylon means gate of God.

Nebuchadnezzar was the most famous Babylon ruler. Other influential empires of Babylon are Nebuchadnezzar 1 and Hammurabi. Code Of Hammurabi is considered as the first known law code of the world. Tower of Babylon, mentioned in Holly Bible was a famous construction in Babylon. Nebuchadnezzar II was said to have constructed the Hanging Gardens. Nebuchadnezzar also associated with the notorious Babylonian exile of Jews .Ishtar Gate, One of the most fascinating construction of Nebuchadnezzar . Just a few short decades after Nebuchadnezzar's death, Babylon was taken by the Persian conqueror Cyrus II. He did not give importance or consideration to Babylon . Alexander the Great planned to recreate and make the Babylon as the capital of his Empire. But he cant fulfill his ambition. Iraq president Saddam Hussein was tried to reconstruct Babylon. Saddam started Babylon mission ,but he cant complete his mission. U.S invasion damaged the archeological sites of Babylon.
