On May 11th 1945, the aircraft carrier Bunker Hill (CV-17) was struck by two kamikaze's during the battle of Okinawa. Aviation Ordnanceman 1st class Emerson Smith was a plankowner and was onboard during the attacks. His first hand account of survival and life aboard on of the most decorated carriers of the second world war.
