In this video we will discuss the descendants or branches of the Candra dynasty. As in the previous video, the candra dynasty was founded by Raja Pururawa who became the first king of the Candra dynasty. The first capital of the kingdom of the Candra Dynasty was Pratisthana or Prayaga, now a city in Aurangabad district, Maharashtra, India. According to the Brahmapurana, Pratisthana was a region ruled by Ila, which was later inherited by the Pururavas. Even though it was founded by King Pururawa, he did not take his name as the name of his dynasty, but he took the name of his ancestors as his dynasty. By King Pururawa, the dynasty he established was named Wangsa Bulan or Wangsa Candra or Wangsa Soma to honor his ancestor, the Moon god, or Dewa Candra or Dewa Soma.

King Pururava
The first king of the Candra dynasty was PuruRawa, he was the son of Budha and Ila. Buddha is the son of Candra and Tara. So from the father's line, King Pururawa was a member of the Candra Dynasty. While from the mother's line, Ila is the daughter of Waiwaswata Manu and Srada. Waiwaswata Manu is the Son of Surya and Saranya. Thus Ila is a member of the solar dynasty.
King Pururawa has 2 wives namely Ausiniri and Urwasi. King Pururawa has no descendants from Ausiniri. While from Urwasi, King Pururawa had 6-8 children, namely: Ayu or Ayus, Amavasu, Vishvayu or Vanayus, Shrutayu or Dhimat, Shatayu or Satayu, and Dridhayu.
