Aqua Koyoshima, a resort hotel, was built on Koyoshima in 1988 to coincide with the opening of the Great Seto Bridge. It was a luxurious Mediterranean-style resort hotel with 28 rooms over three floors, all with ocean views. The plan was to develop the entire island into a Venetian-style resort island. It closed in the late 1990s, and is now left alone on a nearly deserted island.
