I got to make this high end couch two inches. Lots of little steps and lots of glue ups. I glued 3 pieces of plywood together to get the height. Then used shop sawn veneer that was 1/16” thick to cover each side. The new height changed the angle of the tapered sides of the legs so I filled in the voids with wedges to make them solid; that way they could handle the ROOMBA banging into them. Quarter sawn ash has a nice consistent look and the straight grain looked great on all four sides of each leg, PLUS it stains well. I sanded to 150 grit as you don’t want to sand too high when staining wood. This project took lots of site visits. It was hard to do woodworking when not in my shop. It easily took 2 weeks to complete as there were 16 glue ups and lots of cure time and problem solving.
