Potsdamer Platz is to become the new vibrant spot in the centre of the new german capital Berlin. The still empty and bare place raises critical questions from a reporter.
The Architect's office Hilma & Sattler wins a competition and impresses with its building concept. A simple and traditional environment is planned, in which the surroundings are to be taken into account. An adaptation to European urban traditions and a decision against American urban concepts, such as skylines and high-rises, were important to them. The construction project is scheduled to begin in two years. It is intended to bring together the eastern and western parts of the city.
