Jackie Reses of the Kansas City-based Lead Bank pushed back on the idea that government regulation was hindering fintechs in this market: “Where you operate within the confines and guidelines of the regulations, I haven’t seen issues, full stop.”

Reses closed out the summit by arguing in favor of the community banking ethos, while making the case that it can be enhanced by embracing more fintech-enabled products. “I think there’s an ‘and', not an ‘or’, for lending to people that fintech cannot reach,” she said of Lead Bank’s approach.
