When 8-month-old Florence was rescued, she was generally in good health, and she bonded quickly with her caregivers. Once she'd had time to settle in and had completed her quarantine period, we started to introduce her to the baby chimpanzee group.

At first, Florence was a little shy and anxious when we brought in Kam, Noah and Sandie, and she chose to remain in the arms of her caregiver. The babies were keen to approach her and start to get to know her, and when she plucked up the courage to venture a short distance away from her carer, Kam couldn't wait to give her a hug and start showing her how to tackle their climbing frame.
