KITLV event 'Musical Encounters between Indonesia -- The Netherlands' , 19 May 2010, at Museum Volkenkunde, Leiden.

A Moluccan song, 'Beta belayar jauh', presented by Wim Manuhutu (vocals /guitar), Mike Siegers (guitar) and KITLV colleague Ewald Ebing (piano).

The KITLV event was part of the International Symposium 'Musical Encounters between Indonesia and the Netherlands' from 19-21 May 2010, organized by the Professor Teeuw Foundation in cooperation with KITLV and the Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology, University Leiden. Speakers from all over the world were invited to discuss themes such as 'Musical Biographies', 'Military, Music and Power', Popular Musics , 'Sounds from/in the Diaspora' .
