VN24 - Unna / Germany - Driver and passenger of a box van were seriously trapped in their vehicle in an accident on the A1 motorway near Unna. The accident occurred on Monday around 12:47 o'clock, when the driver of a panel van with a car transport trailer obviously overlooked the end of the traffic jam towards Bremen, which had formed in front of a construction site. A tractor-trailer combination and a small truck came to a standstill when the transporter apparently drove onto the small truck almost unbraked and pushed that onto the tractor-trailer combination. Rescue crews had to use hydraulic tools to free the life-threateningly injured occupants from the driver's cab. Both were airlifted into trauma clinics by two rescue helicopters that landed at the scene of the accident. The driver of the small truck was taken by ambulance to a hospital. Several high-resolution images were taken by the officers using laser scanning for accident recording and investigation work.
