Maria Velten from Kempten was a war widow. She had six children and was married several times. She was arrested on July 25, 1983. Her daughter-in-law had gone to a lawyer and claimed that her mother-in-law had poisoned both of her husbands. The police investigated - and found even more dead people. Maria Velten, the inconspicuous housewife from the Lower Rhine, was evidently a serial killer. But how could she murder so often without being recognized? And why did she kill so many people? In 1984, Maria Velten was tried in Krefeld for multiple murder.
