In the summer of 2014, Nadja R. traveled to Syria and joined the Islamic State. She married an IS fighter, ran the household and raised their (shared?) children. When her husband was seriously injured in fighting, she cared for him. On Facebook, she also offered support to other women who wanted to get married. As the anti-IS alliance grew stronger, Nadja R. fled. She was arrested on the way to Turkey. She spent 5 years in camps with her young children until she returned to Germany in October 2022 as part of the Federal Republic's repatriation operation. When she landed in Frankfurt, she was arrested. She was put on trial before the Higher Regional Court. The accusation: membership in a terrorist organization and war crimes.
