Surgery and anesthesia anxiety are real and can lead to panic attacks in the operating room. I see it all the time on the operating room table with my patients before they fall asleep. Unfortunately, panic attacks in surgery are not harmless, even with anesthesia to calm nerves.

Unfortunately, intense anxiety before going under anesthesia can be dangerous and increase the risk of complications, including nausea and pain. Surgery recovery can also be slower and less comfortable. Panic attacks can be an extreme manifestation of severe anxiety before surgery and anesthesia.

It can be particularly dangerous if substances like alcohol and marijuana are used to reduce anxiety and temporarily relieve surgery panic attacks. Even prescription medications (like Xanax) can be dangerous after surgery, like if they're mixed with pain medications.

I'll share my top three tips to reduce anxiety before surgery and anxiety in my patients. And I love them because they're all natural! You can use them inside and outside the operating room for life long benefits!
