Presented by Xu Bing, Artist, Central Academy of Fine Arts, China
Event Date: Sunday, October 7, 2018

Xu Bing, an internationally renowned artist and film director, will discuss his life as an artist and the many media he works in. Xu will focus on how he draws inspirations from the society he lives in. Although his projects may seem radically different from each other, there are underlying principles that he applies to all of his creations. Xu will talk about his signature works including Book From the Sky, Book From the Ground, Square Word Calligraphy, Background Story, Phoenix, and his new film Dragonfly Eyes (2017), which will have its Michigan premiere at the Michigan Theater (with Xu Bing present for a reception and Q and A).
