In our (spoilers) final match of the day, we were against a dual disc vertical spinner, Cherno Alpha. Originally this was looking like it was going to be the final fight before lunch, leading to another rush to repair, but it was moved to the first fight after lunch instead, giving us time to put on new wheels with a fresh layer of sticky stuff on them.

Cherno Alpha was fast out of the gate and we got a few good back and forth hits before my drum went down - again. I didn't give up though and stayed on him, even outpushing him and getting a few pins (Craig had just made a point about the pinning time limit when the fights resumed, so I tried to make a point to not pin overlong). I think the fresh layer of sticky stuff really made a difference here. Eventually his weapon went down as well, but unfortunately I lost one side of drive just a few seconds before the end.

I think I made the decision pretty close - the other driver seemed a bit surprised when they called it for him - but I think it was fair, especially with losing half my drive. Plus, there was a lot of damage to repair on Warlock, and swapping the wheel motor would have taken some soldering - not sure I could have had Warlock ready for another fight anyway. I like to think it's better to go out on a really good fight than to limp into another one and get flattened. : )

Pretty happy with Warlock's performance today. The robot is fairly sturdy, if I can just get the drum more consistent I think I might have something with this design. One major failure point was the pulley and flanges on the drum itself - custom made parts for this design. They were way too big and were constantly taking hits they weren't designed to; they need to either be smaller, stronger, or ideally, both.
