In this video, we plant garlic -- too late! We are praying it still grows in the spring. I also make my first ever loaf of sourdough (I can't tell you how many starters I've finally banished to the trashcan before this one). Finally, we explore family togetherness as a goal. We decided to work at being present with each other every evening when Brad gets home until bedtime. Maybe that's something you already do, but I find that as my kids get older, we do it less and less. It was surprisingly difficult at first -- the temptation was to text friends, scroll through Instagram, hole up in a room and read a book -- but we were determined, and it's been amazing! It has encouraged more conversation and given us back our ability to do things we "never had time for" (like game nights, crafting, reading, cooking together, etc).

I often hear people talk about disliking winter in Indiana. To be fair, it is hard to enjoy because the temperature drops below freezing (or below zero!) and then jumps back up to the 50s in the next couple of days. However, in the past three years, I've looked forward to it more and more: the cozy wood stove, the clear schedules, the dreaming, the planning, the doing of whimsical projects that were put off, and especially more time with my little family!

I hope you enjoy some of our January activities and are doing your own version of hibernating!
