Hello & Welcome to Harnetty Railways

In the 1st of 2 videos we have our 1st visit of the year to our friends at The North Norfolk Railway during the last week of August 2024.

In this video we review the last 2 days of their Bank Holiday Steam Gala on the Sunday & Bank Holiday Monday of the event.

The motive power was mostly a visitor theme with locos coming in on contract hire while the railway's own fleet in collaboration with The Midland & Great Northern Joint Railway Society were undergoing maintenance or under going overhauls.

The locomotives operating during the gala weekend were resident S&D 7f 53809 the only resident fleet loco to operate during the gala weekend.

There were 4 visiting locos that game 2 of them were J94 saddle tanks.

22 which was on hire from The Appleby-Frodingham Railway Preservation Society.

18 was also on hire to the railway from Locomotive Maintenance Services which was making a return to her former home which she was based on the line between 1988 & 2006.

Interesting loco that she was fitted with a giesel enjector similar to The ELR's bulleid pacific 34092 City of Wells.

The next loco that came on hire was GWR 42xx 2-8-0 tank 4277 Hercules from The Paington & Dartmouth Steam Railway which this was the 1st time we have encountered him in BR plain black livery as the last time we encountered him was at his home in GWR lined green livery.

The next visit was the highlight of our visit. The new build GWR Grange class 4-6-0 6880 Betton Grange which he was on an end of season hire from The 6880 Betton Grange Society LTD.

Our 1st encounter of him since November 2016 when he was a static exhibit at The Warley Model Railway Exhibition at the time under construction and since he 1st steam back in the spring of 2024 following completion of his construction at Tyseley Locomotive Works formally known as The Birmingham Railway Museum.

The Sunday was mostly a bashing day with the red pen coming out for 3 of the locos the 2 saddle tanks & 6880 Betton Grange.

We also feature on board double heading with the 2 westerns & the 2 saddle tanks before finishing on the Sunday bashing the 7F 53809.

Bank Holiday Monday we feature the 5 locomotives from the lineside & at stations between Sheringham & Wind Pump Crossing at the summit at Kelling Heath.

All locos performed magnificently all day in glorious sunny Bank Holiday weather.

This is the 1st of 2 videos as mentioned earlier as during our visit to the railway they hosted a week long festival of rails feature both steam & diesel locomotives.

The 2nd part of the video featuring the rest of the event will be uploaded soon so do watch this space.

Thanks for the company during the gala weekend of our prodigy ‪@MarkP_747‬.
