Hi everyone, thanks for tuning in! In this episode we are working on the cabin top decking stock. The timber is Tasmanian Celery Top Pine. We have made a few test pieces to work out the width of the planks and the width of the seams. We oil the winning test piece so we can see how it will handle being exposed to the elements.
Iefke's parents are still visiting Tasmania and help us out in the shed with different jobs.
Now that we have prepared the stock for the cabin top decking Matt starts the preparation of the deck laying system. Because we do not want to use mechanical fastenings in the decking we are in need of a different way to hold the planks in place while the bedding glue cures. Matt builds a strong-back over the cabin so we can use wedges to press the decking down onto the glue. A strong system that involves a fair bit of construction.
Let us know your thought and thanks again for following along!
Cheers Matt, Iefke and Obie
