SITUATION 1: A wide flange steel beam is used as a propped beam 6 m long and subjected to a uniformly distributed dead load of 26.7 kN/m.
A = 19,225 mm2
Depth, d = 540 mm
Web thickness, tw = 12.5 mm
Elastic section modulus: Sx = 3.72 x 106 mm3, Sy = 0.66 x 106 mm3
Plastic section modulus: Zx = 4.14 x 106 mm3, Zy = 1.01 x 106 mm3

1. Which of the following gives the maximum live load (kN/m) the beam can carry based on its design moment strength by LRFD with resistance factor of 0.9 for flexure. Assume the limiting state of yielding and use Fy = 248 MPa.
2. Which of the following gives the maximum live load (kN/m) the beam can carry based on its design shear strength by LRFD with resistance factor of 1.0 and web shear coefficient of 1.0. Assume shear stress at nominal strength of 0.6Fy where Fy = 248 MPa.
3. Which of the following gives the maximum live load (kN/m) the beam can carry based on allowable deflection due to live load only of L/360.
