This yin yoga practice focuses on migraine and pain relief, and is also suitable for tension headaches. In the Ayurvedic tradition, migraines are considered the result of excess pitta (heat and inflammation) in the nervous system. This gentle yin yoga practice takes a restorative approach to lengthen the ligaments of the upper back and neck, to soothe and cool the nervous system, and hold space for silence and stillness in the mind. In this way, we can address our physical symptoms from all levels of the being. Please find support for this practice with yoga bolsters, folded blankets or a stack of pillows.
