Toord dal sar is a very simple and common dish in South India. Main ingredient used is Toor dal. In Mangalore we add bilimbi(bimbuli) for the tangy flavour.However if it's not available it can be replaced by tomatoes.
Toor dal is very rich in protein that makes it a helth dish.
This is best enjoyed with boiled rice when made watery and when it's made thick it's best for chapati or roti.
