Here are the advantages and disadvantages of full wrap and half wrap chainsaw handles. I will discuss full wrap versus half wrap handles. Most people use chainsaws with half wrap handles. I will show examples of where full wrap handles are most useful. They give timber fallers a big advantage when working in the kind of conditions we have in the Pacific Northwest.

In forums I have seen people arguing over the different names of the different handles on a chainsaw. I have heard half wrap, full wrap, 3/4 wrap, partial wrap, I don’t even remember some of the names.  It seems a lot of people don’t agree on what the different names are. Maybe this is why I don’t spend much time in forums.  I only know of the two kind I talked about in the video. The type with the handle only on the left side of the saw. The other type that has the handle on both sides. I’m not sure what the different names are but in this video I called the ones with the handle on one side a half wrap handle, and the ones with the handle on both sides a wrap handle.
