There are many professional loggers who do not wear chainsaw chaps because they believe they are dangerous. There are some situations where they can be dangerous. I have come close to being injured several times from wearing chainsaw chaps. Now I have a way of wearing chainsaw chaps that gives me the protection and eliminates much of the danger of wearing them. I do not in any way suggest chainsaw users not wear chainsaw chaps. Quite the opposite. I believe chaps or chainsaw pants are an important part of PPE for chainsaw safety. I wear them and I recommend others do to.
