While waiting for the Triumph Bonneville to be repaired, I decided to test out a bike that has just evaded me on two separate occasions- the Ducati Monster!

The bike in question was a 2003 Ducati Monster 600.

Eight years ago when I bought my Triumph Speed Triple, my final shortlist was the Monster, the Speed Triple, the Yamaha XJ1300, the Buell Lightning and the Suzuki GS1400. And two years ago when I bought by Bonneville, my shortlist was the Monster and the Suzuki GS1400.

So this was my chance to ride my first ever Ducati, and find out for sure if I’d made the right decision.

How special are Italian motorbikes and how well has it aged?

We were also lucky enough to see a ridiculously, brilliantly eclectic mix of cars and trucks. A Ferrari F40, a Lamborghini Diablo, and two very special Toyota Land Cruisers!
